I just looked at the calendar. We’re forty-two (42) days out from Defrag. And you know what that means? We’re in the zone. No, not AutoZone. The zone of planning, details, logistics, selling our last few sponsor slots, and just generally making sure that Defrag lives up to it’s past reputation of pure, unadulterated awesomesauce.
The good news is that there’s still time to register, book a cheap flight, and grab your hotel room. Here’s what we’ve got planned for you:
1. If you’re an API geek (and, really, these days, who isn’t?), we’ve got the API Hackday on the 8th of November. The info and signup for that is here.
2. The night of the 8th, we have the pre-conference dinners. If you haven’t ever been to these, they always turn out to be something people really look forward to. Topical dinners for small groups (watch for your invite!) where the seeds of discussion get planted.
3. Come the 9th and 10th….well, just look at the agenda. Keynotes from folks like Tim Bray (Google Android), Paul Kedrosky (of the now legendary “ladders falling off of vehicles” keynote), James Altucher (“Success is a Sexually Transmitted Disease”), Roger Ehrenberg (Big Data Investor supreme), Dave Gutelius (Chief Scientist, Jive Software), Laura Merling (the Queen of APIs), Maggie Fox (“The New Content Disruption”), Lili Cheng (Microsoft R&D), Wendy Lea (Get Satisfaction), Sam Arbesman (“The Half Life of Facts”), Duncan Watts (of Six Degrees of Separation fame), Robert Stephens (CTO, Best Buy), Hal Stern (“Building Network Information Factories”), Brad Feld (“The Rise of the Machines”), Adrian Cockcroft (Netflix), Phil Wesier (“Tech Policy and D.C.”), Jeff Lawson (“Does this come in Ruby?”), Matt Galligan (on Philanthropy and Startups), and more.
In short, hang on to your brains.
4. Oh, and then beyond that, intimate networking at the evening reception, prize giveaways (like, COOL prizes), the legendary Defrag fleece, and (I’m betting) some of the most inspiring, thought-provoking conversations you’ll have ALL of this year.
If you haven’t ever been to a Defrag, please just ask around. You’ll find someone that’ll vouch for everything here that sounds like hyperbole. We will sell out, so please get registered early.
